{"id":558,"date":"2021-01-30T00:50:08","date_gmt":"2021-01-30T00:50:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rml.com.mx\/?p=558"},"modified":"2021-03-10T22:52:46","modified_gmt":"2021-03-10T22:52:46","slug":"automotrices-hacen-uso-del-regimen-de-transicion-alternativo-para-cumplir-con-nuevas-normativas-del-t-mec","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rml.com.mx\/us\/automotrices-hacen-uso-del-regimen-de-transicion-alternativo-para-cumplir-con-nuevas-normativas-del-t-mec\/","title":{"rendered":"AUTOMOTRICES HACEN USO DEL R\u00c9GIMEN DE TRANSICI\u00d3N ALTERNATIVO PARA CUMPLIR CON NUEVAS NORMATIVAS DEL T-MEC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ministry of Economy reported in a statement the approval of the applications of 12 companies in the automotive sector that under the Treaty between Mexico, the United States and Canada (USMCA), requested a \u00abAlternative Transition Regime\u00bb which extends the transition period from 3 to 5 years, (unless the producer of the vehicle requests a longer period and is accepted by the Ministry of Economy) and will allow them to comply with the new rules of origin for automotive goods.<\/p>\n<h2>Which are the modifications to the USMCA rules of origin?<\/h2>\n<p>Currently, the USMCA establishes that it will apply the tariff benefits for cars that meet the following conditions in 3 years with a Standard Transition Regime or in 5 years or more with an Alternative Transition Regime:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Regional Content Value for light vehicles should increase from 62.5% to 75.<\/li>\n<li>For heavy duty vehicles, the Regional Content Value will increase from 60% to 70%.<\/li>\n<li>On the side of Labor Content Value, a minimum of 40% of the vehicle\u2019s value should be produced using wages of at least $16 per hour.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In addition, since July 1st, 2020, 70% of steel and aluminium should come from the North American region.<\/p>\n<p>Which companies will be able to use the Alternative Transition Regime?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tesla Inc.<\/li>\n<li>Volkswagen de M\u00e9xico S.A. de C.V.<\/li>\n<li>Volvo Car USA<\/li>\n<li>FCA M\u00e9xico, S.A. de CV<\/li>\n<li>Hyundai Motor America<\/li>\n<li>Mazda Motor de Mexico, S. de R.L. de C.V.<\/li>\n<li>Toyota Motor de M\u00e9xico, S. de R.L. de C.V.<\/li>\n<li>Kia Motors Mexico<\/li>\n<li>Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia, Inc.<\/li>\n<li>Nissan Mexicana, S.A. de C.V.<\/li>\n<li>Ford Motor Company S.A. de C.V.<\/li>\n<li>Cooperation Manufacturing Plant Aguascalientes, S.A.P.I. de C.V. (alliance between Renault-Nissan and Daimler)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is worth mentioning that both Honda and General Motors are the only automakers to follow the Standard Transition
